The Diablos lead the Zona Sur by eight games over Tabasco, and with 15 games remaining in the season, the Diablos lead Campeche and Quintana Roo, the two teams tied for the final playoff spot, by 13 games, meaning they could lock up a playoff spot as soon as Thursday night.

Rieleros de Aguascalientes (35-39) 6, Sultanes de Monterrey (41-36) 3 – Oscar De La Cruz threw six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, two walks, and striking out three, and the Rieleros pinned the first loss on Daniel Mengden since he came over from Dos Laredos in the series finale. Matt McDermott went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBIs for Aguascalientes, which holds a one-game edge on Union Laguna for the final playoff spot in the Zona Norte. Angel Reyes stole home in the top of the ninth to score the sixth run for Aguascalientes.

Saraperos de Saltillo (31-45) 5, Charros de Jalisco (39-38) 3 – Former New York Met Luis Guillorme singled home a run in the sixth and then scored when Christian Villanueva hit a three-run homer that put Saltillo ahead for good. The Saraperos took two-of-three from the Charros, and despite being a longshot, are still in the hunt for the final playoff spot.
Bravos de Leon (41-37) 8, Leones de Yucatan (27-49) 7 – Carlos Martinez went 3-for-3, scoring twice, walking twice, and driving in two runs, including one with a sixth-inning triple, as Leon handed the hapless Leones their sixth consecutive loss. With the win, the Bravos moved into a three-way tie for third in the Zona Sur with Puebla and Oaxaca.
Algodoneros de Union Laguna (36-42) 6, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (29-49) 2 – Isan Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double and Touki Toussaint struck out six in 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits for the Algodoneros.
Olmecas de Tabasco (45-33) 4, Tigres de Quintana Roo (39-37) 3 (15 Innings) – Hector Hernandez scampered home when the 1-2 offering by Hector Borges to Randy Romero in the bottom of the 15th went to the backstop, allowing the Tigres to take the series finale. With the win, Quintana Roo is tied with Campeche for the final playoff spot in the Zona Sur, 13 games back of the Diablos Rojos, but both teams are one game behind a three-way logjam for third.

The Caliente hold a one-game lead on Monterrey for third place in the Zona Norte, where they are 10 games behind first-place Tijuana with 15 games left to play.

Toros de Tijuana (51-24) 9, Dorados de Chihuahua (31-47) 6 – Three innings away from a rare sweep of Tijuana, the Dorados coughed up a 6-3 lead over the final three innings, giving up four in the seventh and two more in the ninth to lose the series finale. Tomas Telis drove in three runs for Tijuana, while Wilmer Flores and Franchy Cordero each drove in two for the Zona Norte leaders. The loss halted the Dorados’ winning streak at six games. With 15 games to play, Chihuahua is six games behind Aguascalientes for the final playoff spot in the north.

Juniel Querecuto added an RBI double in the fourth, and Aristides Aquino and Jorge Flores had RBI singles after him. Luis Miranda allowed two hits over six scoreless innings, walking one and striking out 10, and three relievers combined efforts to preserve the shutout.
