Logjam In Zona Sur – After Saturday’s games, five teams in the Zona Sur are battling for the division’s bottom four playoff spots. Currently tied for third place are the Tigres de Quintana Roo (43-38) and Bravos de Leon (44-39). A half-game back in fifth place are the Piratas de Campeche (42-38), and the Pericos de Puebla (42-39) and Guerreros de Oaxaca (43-40) are tied for the sixth and final playoff spot, a half-game behind Campeche.
If the Playoffs Started Today – Were the playoffs to start today, the three series for each division would be as follows: In the Zona Norte, the Toros de Tijuana would have the top seed and face the Rieleros de Aguascalientes. The Caliente de Durango would be the No. 2 seed and face the Acereros de Monclova, and in a rematch of last year’s first round, the Sultanes de Monterrey would have home field advantage in a series against the Charros de Jalisco.
Down south, the Diablos Rojos del Mexico would have the top seed and face either the Pericos de Puebla or Guerreros de Oaxaca, depending upon how the tiebreaker falls. The No. 2 seed would go to the Olmecas de Tabasco, who would face the Piratas de Campeche, and the Tigres de Quintana Roo would have the third seed and host the Bravos de Leon to open the first round.
