Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Olmecas Win Sixth Straight, Now Tied For First With Diablos Rojos In Zona Sur

Piratas de Campeche (15-22) 13, Pericos de Puebla (21-18) 8 – Alejandro Flores went 4-for-5, scored three times, and drove in five runs, three of them with a three-run homer in the sixth as Campeche took the series finale from Puebla. Andrew Stevenson and Felix Perez contributed two RBIs each for the Piratas, who sit in a four-way tie for sixth place in the Zona Sur. Herlis Rodriguez hit a two-run homer for the Pericos.

Caliente de Durango (20-18) 5, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (18-21) 4 – A two-run double by Victor Marquez and an RBI single by Estevan Florial in the bottom of the seventh gave the Caliente their fifth straight win, their 20th win of the season, and a sweep of the Tecos. Florial went 2-for-3 and also had an RBI triple in the sixth. Jesse Castillo hit a solo homer for Dos Laredos.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (25-14) 8, Conspiradores de Queretaro (16-23) 6 – Robinson Cano hit his 10th homer of the year, a two-run shot in the first and Ramon Flores also hit a two-run homer in the opening frame as the Diablos won their fourth straight and swept Queretaro. Flores finished the game 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Seven Diablos pitchers combined to allow just six hits and no walks, striking out 11.

Acereros de Monclova (21-18) 6, Saraperos de Saltillo (13-24) 5 – Alan Trejo’s solo homer in the bottom of the seventh tied the game for the Acereros, and David Hensley’s solo homer in the eighth gave Monclova the win in the series finale. All six Acereros runs came on homers, with Rodolfo Amador hitting solo homers in the first and fifth innings and Luis Gonzalez and Balbino Fuenmayor also hitting solo homers. Starter Wilmer Rios allowed one run on six hits in 5 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out four for the Acereros.

Tigres de Quintana Roo (15-22) 9, Bravos de Leon (22-17) 2 – The Tigres scored six runs over the final three innings to take the finale from the Bravos. JJ Matijevic went 2-for-3, scored twice, and drove in three runs, hitting a solo homer in the seventh for Quintana Roo.

Dorados de Chihuahua (13-26) 4, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (20-19) 3 (13 Innings) – A single by Mark Contreras in the bottom of the 13th, his second RBI single of the game, scored Brainer Bonaci to end the marathon series finale Sunday in Chihuahua’s favor. Jose Manuel Orozco tied the game with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth for Aguascalientes.

Leones de Yucatan (14-25) 6, El Aguila de Veracruz (16-23) 2 – Yoanner Negrin allowed two unearned runs on four hits over five innings, and Norberto Obeso, Reivaj Garcia, and Marco Jaime each drove in two runs for the Leones in the win. Obeso hit a two-run homer in the second inning to get Yucatan on the board. Sebastian Elizalde had a two-run single in the third for Veracruz.

Olmecas de Tabasco (25-14) 4, Guerreros de Oaxaca (24-15) 1 – The Olmecas won their sixth straight game and moved into a tie for first place in the Zona Sur with a win Sunday behind a two RBI day from Agustin Ruiz and a solo homer from Seth Beer, his 10th of the year. Eight Olmecas pitchers combined to allow one run on nine hits, walking none and striking out eight.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna (15-24) 9, Charros de Jalisco (24-15) 3 – Mason Martin hit his 10th homer of the year, former New York Yankee Didi Gregorius homered, and the Algodoneros won their 15th of the year on Sunday afternoon. Seven different Union Laguna batters drove in at least one run and eight of nine starters had a hit in the win.

Toros de Tijuana (26-12) 6, Sultanes de Monterrey (23-16) 5 (11 Innings) – After Chris Williams advanced to second on a balk in the bottom of the 11th, Jack Mayfield drove him in with a single, giving the Toros the win and a 2 1/2 game lead in the Zona Norte. Justin Turner went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, and David Reyes allowed three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out seven.
