Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Sultanes de Monterrey Remain Undefeated; Palacios Drives In Six For Bravos de Leon

Charros de Jalisco (2-3) 3, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (2-3) 2 (11 Innings) – Kyle Garlick’s RBI single in the top of the 11th got the Charros the win, spoiling the Tecolotes’ first appearance at their Texas home. Starter Cesar Gomez allowed one run on four hits and a walk for the Charros, striking out six. Cade Gotta hit his first homer of the year for Dos Laredos.

Piratas de Campeche (3-2) 4, Tigres de Quintana Roo (3-2) 2 – Felix Perez had a two-run single in the first and Andrew Stevenson hit a two-run homer in teh second as the Piratas doubled up Quintana Roo. Diosbel Arias’ first-inning solo homer was one of just four hits on the night for the Tigres.

El Aguila de Veracruz (3-2) 3, Olmecas de Tabasco (1-4) 2 – Cesar Izturis Jr.’s two-run double in the bottom of the fourth put El Aguila ahead for good, though the Olmecas got within one in the ninth when Yamaico Navarro’s sac fly scored Yunior Severino. Braulio Torres-Perez allowed one run on five hits in five innings, striking out three for Veracruz.

Conspiradores de Queretaro (1-3) at Pericos de Puebla (1-3) – This game was postponed by rain.

Rieleros de Aguascalientes (3-2) 4, Saraperos de Saltillo (1-3) 2 – Andretty Cordero had two hits, scored a run and drove one in as the Rieleros improved to 3-2. Jimmy Burnette earned a one-out save after Cam Robinson put the tying and go-ahead runs on base in the ninth.

Leones de Yucatan (2-3) 8, Diablos Rojos del Mexico (2-3) 4 – Henry Ramos went 3-for-5 with a double, a two-run homer, and five RBIs as the Leones pushed the Diablos below .500 on Wednesday. Carlos Perez hit a solo homer for the Diablos, and starter James Kaprelian allowed three runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Guerreros de Oaxaca (4-1) 12, Bravos de Leon (4-1) 11 – Alexi Amarista, Juan Santana, and Andres Sosa each had three RBIs for Oaxaca and mel Rojas Jr. had two as the Guerreros won the boat race, handing the Bravos their first defeat of the season. Sosa clubbed a three-run homer in the third for the Guerreros. Jimmy Kerrigan and Jermaine Palacios homered in the loss for Leon, and Palacios went 4-for-4 and drove in six runs.

Sultanes de Monterrey (5-0) 5, Caliente de Durango (2-3) 3 – Ramiro Pena went 3-for-4 with two homers, hitting a solo homer in the fifth and a two-run homer in the seventh, and Socrates Brito hit a solo homer for the Sultanes as they won their fifth game of the year. Starter Stephen Tarpley allowed two runs on four hits in five innings for Monterrey, allowing a solo homer to Webster Rivas.

Toros de Tijuana (4-1) 8, Algodoneros de Union Laguna (1-5) 6 (11 Innings) – Chris Williams’ pinch-hit three-run homer in the top of the 11th gave the Toros their fourth win of the year. Hernan Perez had a solo homer in the third for Tijuana. The Toros allowed 15 hits in the game, but the Algodoneros stranded 14 base runners and went just 4-for-14 with runners in scoring position as they fell to 1-5.

Dorados de Chihuahua (3-2) 4, Acereros de Monclova (2-3) 1 – Joel Flores drove in two runs with a single in the ninth, and Mark Contreras drove in Flores to give the Dorados a three-run cushion. The Acereros mustered just six hits and didn’t have a base runner over the final 2 2/3 innings, their lone run coming when Bryan Corral scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.
