Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Sultanes de Monterrey Win Fourth Straight; Three Games Postponed By Rain

El Aguila de Veracruz (28-34) 6, Tigres de Quintana Roo (31-30) 3 – El Aguila erased a 3-0 deficit, scoring two in the fifth, one in the six, and three in the seventh to take the series finale from Quintana Roo. Chris Williams had an RBI single in the sixth and hit a three-run homer in the seventh for Veracruz, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs. JJMatijevic’s three-run homer in the fourth brought home all of Quintana Roo’s runs.

Leones de Yucatan (23-38) at Pericos de Puebla (33-28) – This game was postponed due to rain and will be played during the series scheduled for July 31 to Aug. 2 in Merida, with the Pericos playing as the home team.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (40-23) 9, Guerreros de Oaxaca (34-29) 4 – Moises Gutierrez went 4-for-6 with two triples, two runs scored, and two RBIs, Robinson Cano drove in a pair of runs, and Julian Ornelas hit a three-run homer as the Diablos racked up their 40th win of the season. Justin Courtney allowed one unearned run over five innings for the Diablos, walking one and striking out three.

Piratas de Campeche (28-31) at Conspiradores de Queretaro (29-33) – This game was tied 4-4 after four innings when it was suspended due to rain. The game will be completed from the point of suspension when the Conspiradores visit Campeche July 31 to Aug. 2.

Charros de Jalisco (33-29) at Caliente de Durango (33-28) – This game was suspended after five innings with the Charros leading 2-0 due to rain. It will be completed when the Caliente visits Jalisco July 31 to Aug. 2.

Bravos de Leon (34-29) 6, Olmecas de Tabasco (38-25) 2 – Sandber Pimentel went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs with a single in the first and three more with a homer in the second to get the Bravos past the Olmecas Thursday night. Faustino Carrera threw five innings, allowing one earned run on five hits, walking one and striking out two for Leon.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna (28-35) 8, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (28-33) 3 – Julian Escobedo went 3-for-4 and drove in three, two of them with a homer in the eighth, as the Algodoneros took Thursday night’s series finale from the Rieleros. Albert Lara had a solo homer in the fifth for Union Laguna. Jose Rondon hit his 13th homer of the year, a solo shot in the fifth, for Aguascalientes.

Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (25-38) 12, Saraperos de Saltillo (24-36) 5 – Zoilo Almonte’s two-run homer in the first gave him 19 on the year and the Tecos a 2-0 lead, and the Binationals got offense up and down the lineup as they took the series finale from Saltillo. Roenis Elias allowed one run on five hits in four innings for Dos Laredos, walking one and striking out three.

Sultanes de Monterrey (33-29) 4, Dorados de Chihuahua (23-40) 1 – Former New York Yankee Justus Sheffield allowed one run on four hits over six innings, walking two and striking out two, as the Sultanes pinned the 40th loss of the year on the Dorados. Victor Mendoza drove in two runs, one with a single and one with a sacrifice fly, for the Grey Ghosts, who won their fourth straight game.
