Liga Mexicana de Beisbol: Tigres de Quintana Roo Top Tabasco In League’s Longest Game In More Than Nine Years

Tigres de Quintana Roo (38-36) 4, Olmecas de Tabasco (44-32) 3 (18 Innings) – Domingo Leyba tied the game at three apiece with a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth, and then the Tigres and Olmecas decided to give fans a two-for-one, playing nine more innings until Aldo Flores singled home Miguel Ojeda Jr. in the top of the 18th for the winning run. The game was the first LMB contest to go to a 17th innings in more than nine years, a game where the Vaqueros de Laguna (now the Algodoneros de Union Laguna) beat the Tigres 4-3 in 17 innings on July 13, 2017. Quintana Roo used 11 pitchers in the game, tying a league record, and the two teams used 21 total pitchers, also tying a league record.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna (34-41) 7, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (28-48) 6 (11 Innings) – In his third game since returning to Mexico after being released by the New York Yankees, 2025 LMB MVP Nick Torres doubled home Julian Escobedo in the top of the 11th. The Algodoneros escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the inning, allowing a single run on a walk, to take the series opener. Torres went 2-for-6 with two RBIs for Union Laguna.

Diablos Rojos del Mexico (51-25) 5, Pericos de Puebla (40-35) 3 – Like Nigel Tufnel’s amplifiers, the Diablos winning streak goes up to 11. Carlos Sepulveda drove in three runs and Jon Singleton hit his 23rd homer of the year, a solo homer that got the Diablos on the board in the first, as the Reds took the series opener from Puebla. Making a spot start, Diablos’ pitching coach Brooks Hall allowed one run on three hits over three innings, walking one and striking out two.

El Aguila de Veracruz (35-40) 11, Conspiradores de Queretaro (32-43) 5 – Austin Shenton went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and four RBIs, and Veracruz hit eight doubles, including three by Roberto Valenzuela, to hand Queretaro a loss in the series opener. Sebastian Elizalde and Kristian Delgado each had two RBIs for El Aguila.

Bravos de Leon (39-37) 10, Leones de Yucatan (27-47) 7 – Juan Uriarte homered twice and drove in three runs and Eric Filia went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Bravos de Leon took the series opener from a depleted Leones roster that had been gutted over the last week. It was the fourth straight loss for Yucatan.

Sultanes de Monterrey (40-35) 3, Rieleros de Aguascalientes (34-38) 0 – Jared Wetherbee threw six scoreless innings in his first start for the Sultanes, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six. Javier Salazar, Kellen Strahm, and Victor Mendoza each drove in a run for Monterrey with a single. The loss cut the Rieleros’ hold on the final playoff berth in the Zona Norte to a single game.

Charros de Jalisco (39-36) 6, Saraperos de Saltillo (29-45) 5 (10 Innings) – Alex Mejia went 5-for-5 with three RBIs and Gilberto Jimenez singled home Alejandro Quezada in the 10th to hand Saltillo its third straight loss.

Caliente de Durango (41-34) 6, Acereros de Monclova (39-37) 4 (11 Innings) – Christopher Escarrega knocked a pinch hit two-run double in the top of the 11th to get the Caliente past Monclova. Six Durango relievers combined to hold the Blue Fury to a single hit and three walks over the final five innings.

Dorados de Chihuahua (30-46) 2, Toros de Tijuana (50-23) 1 – Elian Leyva allowed a single unearned run on three hits, walking two and striking out seven over 7 2/3 innings for Chihuahua, and a pair of RBI doubles in the bottom of the ninth, one by Joel Flores and one by Damon Dues, gave the Dorados their third straight win.
