Little League World Series LIVE Blog: Australia vs. Chinese Taipei

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – 

Chinese Taipei vs. Australia

Team Australia takes the field and we’re underway from Williamsport!

Chiu Wei-Che starts the game with a leadoff double to the left-center field gap.

A passed ball, two walks and an infield single bring two runs across early for Chinese Taipei.

Another passed ball brings another one across. 3-0 Chinese Taipei with a runner still on second.

A base hit to left drives in another run and it’s 4-0.

Australian pitcher Sayre Howick gets the first out of the game via ground ball to third baseman, but a run scores making it 5-0.

Another groundout drives in a run but there are now two outs in the top of the first.

A passed ball allows another run to cross and it’s 6-0 Chinese Taipei.

Finally the inning ends with a popout to third baseman Ethan Cross and Australia is coming to bat.

Chinese Taipei pitcher Lin Sheng-Kai gets the first out of the inning via ground ball to second base, then makes quick work of the next two batters to keep the score 6-0.

6-0 Chinese Taipei after one

Chinese Taipei continues to roll in the second. They start with a leadoff double to left field off the bat of Hu Yen-Shun. After a walk, the runner tried to steal second but was thrown out by catcher Fletcher Dobb. Runner on third with one out.

After a pop out to shortstop keeps the runner at third, Howick gets the final out on a ball that was hit to the right field wall but was caught by right fielder Chase Newell.

Australia gets their first base runner of the game as Emma Gainsford worked a walk after two quick outs to start the inning, but nothing comes of it as Sheng-Kai gets the next batter out via strikeout.

6-0 Chinese Taipei after two

Leadoff walk to center fielder Ciou Zhi-Kai starts the inning which is immediately followed by a double to left field and Chinese Taipei once again finds themselves with runners in scoring position.

A single to left drives both runners in and it’s 8-0 Chinese Taipei.

Two groundouts end the inning.

Chinese Taipei strikes out the side and we’re heading to the fourth.

8-0 Chinese Taipei after three

Hudson Dobb takes the mound for Australia to start the fourth.

Two singles with a fly out to center in between has Chinese Taipei with runners on first and second with one out.

Two great plays in the field get Australia out of the inning. Still 8-0 Chinese Taipei going to the bottom of the inning.

Australia picks up their first hit of the game but remain scoreless.

Players from team Japan, Texas, and Aruba have seemed to join the Australia fanbase and even started chanting their signature cheer.

8-0 Chinese Taipei after four

After a walk and hit-by-pitch, Chinese Taipei rips a double down the line and scores another run. There are runners on second and third with no one out.

Another double by first baseman Liao Hsuan-Hao brings in two more and makes the score 11-0.

Two popouts to first base end the inning. Australia needs to score two to keep the game going.

The Australian team captivated the audience and became a fan favorite but came up short in their first game at the tournament.

FINAL: 11 Chinese Taipei, 0 Australia
