Acereros de Monclova second baseman and outfielder Juan Mora was named the 2025 Rookie of the Year of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol.

Mora was chosen in a vote of the LMB’s 2025 Special Nominations Electoral Committee, comprised of members of the sports department, coaching staff, reporters, press officers, and community managers from the 20 LMB teams, as well as local media outlets from the league’s 20 cities and national media outlets.

Juan Mora defeated teammate Bryan Corral, Erick Rodríguez, Carlos Medina, and Luis Santos of the Sultanes de Monterrey, Gilberto Vizcarra of the Dorados de Chihuahua and Leones de Yucatan, Alejandro Quezada of the Charros de Jalisco,  Eduardo Mares  of the Guerreros de Oaxaca, Enrique Castillo of the Tigres de Quintana Roo, and Roberto Castro of the Bravos de Leon.

Mora becomes the first Rookie of the Year for the Acereros de Monclova since Iván Terrazas shared the designation in 2006 with Salvador Robles of the Diablos Rojos del Mexico.

He is the fourth Acerero to take home the Rookie of the Year award, joining Florentino Vázquez in 1985, Germán Leyva in 1989, and Iván Terrazas in 2006.

Mora played four seasons in the Chicago Cubs’ organization, rising as high as High-A, before appearing in 14 games for Monclova during the 2024 season. This year, Mora played 77 of the Acereros’ 90 games, batting .316/.367/.441 with an .808 OPS, six homers, and 26 RBIs.
