Dominican-born pitcher Domingo German, who threw the most recent perfect game in Major League Baseball, has signed with the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol’s Toros de Tijuana.

German, who has been out of action since the winter ball season when he played for the Toros del Este in LIDOM, last pitched in MLB in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he threw 20 2/3 innings over seven appearances with a 7.84 ERA, a 1.839 WHIP and 10 strikeouts.

German threw a perfect game for the Yankees in an 11-0 win against the Oakland A’s at the Oakland Coliseum on June 23, 2023. It was the first perfect game in Major League Baseball in 11 years. A month later, German went to in-patient treatment for alcohol abuse and placed on the restricted list, ending his 2023 season. German was also suspended for 81 games during the 2020 season under MLB’s domestic violence policy following an altercation with his girlfriend after a charity event hosted by teammate CC Sabathia.

He signed with Pittsburgh for 2024 and split the year between the minor leagues and Pittsburgh, throwing 75 innings over 15 appearances for Triple-A Indianapolis, posting a 5.40 ERA and a 1.400 WHIP with 74 strikeouts and 33 walks. German was designated for assignment on Sept. 8, 2024, cleared waivers, and was sent to Indianapolis before electing free agency in October 2024.

With the Toros del Este in 2024-25, German threw 11 2/3 innings over four appearances, striking out 14 and walking six with a 7.72 ERA.

He has yet to appear in a game for Tijuana, who start a three-game set at Dos Laredos on Tuesday night.
