LMB: Jose Offerman Out In Queretaro, Replaced By Rafael Rijo; Diablos Continue To Dominate Zona Sur

After a great first season in Queretaro, a rough start in 2025 ended Jose Offerman’s run as manager for the Conspiradores.

The club fired Offerman as manager on June 6, replacing him with Rafael Rijo in advance of the Conspiradores’ weekend series against the Olmecas de Tabasco. Rijo won his debut Friday, with Queretaro taking a 5-4 victory behind a two-run double from newcomer Henry Urrutia, but dropped the last two games of the series to fall to 18-26 on the year.

Offerman, who won the LMB’s Manager of the Year award in 2024 for leading the expansion club to a 50-38 record and a second-place finish in the Zona Sur, has had something of a checkered history as a manager. He’s led the Tigres del Licey of LIDOM to three league titles, but was also suspended for life in 2010 for throwing a punch at umpire D.J. Rayburn. The suspension was lifted in 2013.

Rijo, 55, is a native of La Romana, Dominican Republic, and managed the Bravos de Leon in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol in 2024 to a 37-53 record. The Conspiradores travel to Tijuana for a mid-week series against the Toros and then visit Monterrey next weekend.

Aderlin Rodriguez Having A Career Year – After starting the year with the Bravos de Leon, Aderlin Rodriguez was dealt to the Tijuana Toros, the club where he spent the 2023 and 2024 LMB seasons.

The trade didn’t jar him one bit. After hitting 16 homers in 35 games to start the season in Guanajuato, Rodriguez has hit five more since coming over to Tijuana and leads the league with 21, five more than Yadiel Hernandez of the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos.

Tijuana is the hottest team in the Zona Norte at the moment, having won six straight and they’ve gone 8-2 in their last 10.

In total, Rodriguez is batting .353/.374/.781 with a 1.155 OPS and 50 RBIs. Thirty-eight of his 66 hits have gone for extra bases.
