Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (LMB) recently met with the Nippon Professional Baseball League, the Korean Baseball Organization, and the Chinese Professional Baseball League in hopes of cooperating in marketing and promotion and the potential for friendly games between the national teams.

LMB Commissioner Horacio del La Vega gave a presentation to introduce the Mexican professional baseball league and discuss ways the leagues can strengthen exchanges between the leagues. The LMB proposed various ideas, including player exchanges, friendly matches, and technology sharing. De la Vega said in a release, “in favor of the LMB being a bridge with the most important baseball leagues in the world and projects can be carried out for the benefit of the development of our sport at an international level.” He also watched a KBO at Jamsil Baseball Stadium between the NC Dinos and the Doosan Bears. De la Vega, after the game, said, “Korean baseball’s unique cheering culture is impressive, and passionate fans are amazing.”

The LMB also made a trip to Taiwan, where executives visited the Tianmu Baseball Stadium to learn more about the culture of the sport in Taiwan. Cai Qichang, the President of the CPBL, also spoke about the meeting: “ Although Mexico and Taiwan are thousands of kilometers apart in the Pacific Ocean, our love for baseball is connected.”

The Cuban Baseball Association also met with the KBO to discuss friendly matches and expressed intentions to develop exchanges so Cuban players can be known in Korea. Juan Perez, the President of the Cuban Baseball Association, also watched a game at Jamsil Stadium.

The partnership between these leagues would provide fans of international baseball with an exciting treat: seeing some of the best leagues from around the world work together. Across the four leagues, 48 teams could benefit from this cooperation.
