Daren Brown, who took over the Piratas de Campeche in May, won the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol’s Manager of the Year award after leading the club to the Serie Campeonato in the Zona Sur in the 2025 season.

When Brown took over from Cory Snyder, the Piratas were 12-17 and in ninth place in the 10-team Zona Sur. The Piratas went 35-26, finishing 47-43 and in third place in the Zona Sur. Brown’s Piratas beat the Pericos de Puebla four games to two in the first round of the playoffs and the Guerreros de Oaxaca in seven games in the second round before falling to the eventual LMB champions, the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, in the Serie Campeonato four games to two.

The selection was made in a vote of the LMB 2025 Special Nominations Electoral Committee, comprised of general managers, coaching staffs, reporters, press officers, and community managers from the 20 LMB teams, as well as local media outlets from the 20 league cities and national media outlets in Mexico.

Brown won the award over Lorenzo Bundy of the Diablos Rojos, Benjamín Gil of the Charros de Jalisco, Roberto Vizcarra of the Guerreros de Oaxaca, Roberto Kelly of the Sultanes de Monterrey, Félix Fermín of the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, Mario Iván Santana of the Olmecas de Tabasco, and Oscar Robles of the Toros de Tijuana.

He previously served as interim manager of Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners in 2010, going 19-31, and served as third base coach for the Mariners in 2013. Prior to taking over the Piratas, Brown managed 16 seasons in the Mariners’ minor league system, including eight seasons leading Triple-A Tacoma, and managed the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, from 2022-24.
