The 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner was perfect through the first three innings before allowing a single to Yonathan Daza in the bottom of the fourth. Oaxaca didn’t get a runner into scoring position until the bottom of the sixth, when Yonathan Daza got to third base on a single by Alexi Amarista.
In the bottom of the seventh, Ramos came up with one out and launched Bauer’s first offering over the right field wall for the Guerreros’ only run of the game.
Ramon Flores went 3-for-5 for the Diablos Rojos, driving in a pair of runs with a two-run homer to center field in the top of the seventh, and Jose Marmolejos and Franklin Barreto each had a pair of RBIs.
The Diablos Rojos have outscored the Guerreros 25-6 in their wins in games four and five. Mexico City outscored 26-19 in games one, two, and three, all won by Oaxaca.
The series now returns to Estadio Alfredo Harp Helu in Mexico City for game six on Saturday. Neither team has announced a starting pitcher.
