LMB Playoffs: Monclova Evens Series With Dos Laredos; Yucatan Blows Out Oaxaca

Acereros de Monclova 8, Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos 1 – Four solo home runs powered the Acereros de Monclova past the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos Wednesday as Monclova evened the series at two games a piece.

Monclova got solo homers fromĀ  Juan Perez and Balbino Fuenmayor in the bottom of the third, Aldrem Corredor in the fifth, and Odubel Herrera in the eighth.

Starter Jorge Tavares allowed one run on eight hits over six innings, striking out six and walking one.

Robert Stock will start game five for Dos Laredos against Steven Moyers for Monclova tonight at 10 p.m. EDT.

Leones de Yucatan 22, Guerreros de Oaxaca 12 – Every Yucatan starter had at least one hit and scored one run as Yucatan romped to a 2-1 series lead over Oaxaca.

Luis Juarez went 5-for-6 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Jose Martinez went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, four RBIs and three runs scored for the Leones. Yadir Drake, Josh Fuentes, Art Charles, and Ruben Tejada all homered for the Leones.

Trailing 21-4 after 5 1/2 innings, Oaxaca put up six runs in the bottom of the sixth, but never managed to get back in the game.

Francisco Haro will start game four for Yucatan against Luis Miranda for Oaxaca tonight at 9 p.m. EDT.

Rieleros de Aguascalientes 8, Sultanes de Monterrey 0 – Rafael Medrano allowed two hits and two walks over six shutout innings as Aguascalientes avoided being swept by Monterrey.

Medrano threw 53-of-80 pitches for strikes and only allowed one runner to reach scoring position, while the Aguascalientes bullpen combined to allow one hit and one walk in three shutout innings.

Andretty Cordero’s solo homer in the bottom of the first was the only run the Rieleros needed, though they added seven more. Angel Reyes hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third, and Marco Jaime and Ramon Rios each had RBI hits in the sixth.

Game five is scheduled for tonight at 9:30 p.m. EDT, with Julio Teheran starting for Monterrey. Aguascalientes has yet to announce a starter.

El Aguila de Veracruz 4, Conspiradores de Queretaro 3 – Yasiel Puig went 1-for-4 with a run scored as Veracruz grabbed a 2-1 series lead over Queretaro.

Fernando Flores and Jose Gaitan each had two RBIs and the Veracruz relief corps threw 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out four.

Queretaro scored their three runs via a solo homer from Jesse Castillo in the second inning and solo homers from Yosmany Guerra and Alen Hanson in the third.

Game four is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. tonight in Veracruz, with Wilfredo Boscan starting for Queretaro against Phillips Valdez for Veracruz.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna 2, Toros de Tijuana 1 – A wild pitch in the top of the ninth by Tijuana’s Silvino Braucho allowed Didi Gregorius to scoot home with the game-winning run, as Union Laguna took a commanding 3-1 series lead over Tijuana Wednesday.

Greg Bird drove in Union Laguna’s other run in the first inning with a ground out to first base, allowing Jonathan Villar to score.

Seven Algodoneros pitchers combined to allow four hits and three walks, striking out seven.

Game five is scheduled for 10:35 p.m. EDT. Starting pitchers haven’t been announced.
