Sultanes de Monterrey 12, Charros de Jalisco 6 – Behind a seven-run sixth inning, the Sultanes de Monterrey again staved off elimination, taking game five of their first round series against the Charros de Jalisco and sending the series back home.

In the sixth, Josh Lester’s two-run double to right field punctuated a lopsided inning where the Sultanes sent 11 batters to the plate, rapped five hits including a single and a double by Lester, and scored seven runs to take the lead for good

Asael Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two runs scored and three RBIs for Monterrey, while starter Nolan Kingham went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

The series goes back to Monterrey, where game six will start at 8 p.m. EDT Saturday, with Luis Ivan Rodriguez starting for Jalisco against Manny Banuelos for Monterrey.

Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos 4, Acereros de Monclova 3 (11 Innings) – Johan Camargo doubled with one out in the bottom of the 11th and was replaced by pinch runner Italo Motta, who advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored the winning run on a wild pitch, giving the Tecos a 3-2 series lead.

Six Laredo pitchers combined to hold Monclova to three runs on three hits and seven walks, striking out 10, and Aledmys Diaz went 3-for-4 for the Tecos with an RBI and a run scored.

Game six is Saturday night in Monclova at 9:45 p.m. EDT, with Dos Laredos starting Daniel Mengden against Monclova’s Jorge Tavarez.

Algodoneros de Union Laguna 4, Toros de Tijuana 3 – The Algodoneros’ bats were anything but soft on Thursday, as they clubbed three homers, scoring three of their four runs via the long ball, including a game-winning solo homer with tow outs in the bottom of the ninth by Nicolas Torres that gave Union Laguna a 3-2 series lead.

Hendrik Clementina hit a solo home run in the fourth and Drew Lugbauer added a solo shot in the sixth for Union Laguna.

Tijuana starter David Reyes allowed three runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings, and Franchy Cordero tied the game for the Toros with a solo homer in the top of the ninth.

The series heads back to Tijuana, where game six will start at 10:35 p.m. EDT Saturday, with Domingo German starting for the Toros against the Algodoneros’ Grant Gavin.

Piratas de Campeche at Pericos de Puebla – Heavy rain in Puebla postponed game five to Friday afternoon. Edgar Torres will start for Puebla against Domingo Acevedo for Campeche, with the first pitch schedule for 4 p.m. EDT.
