The Tigres de Quintana Roo of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol named Enrique Couoh as sports manager Friday, a position equivalent to general manager.
Couoh, 56, previously worked in the front office of the Toros de Tijuana, where he helped institute a “modern and analytical vision of Mexican baseball” according to a press release from the Tigres. From 1988 to 2003, Couoh pitched in the LMB with Dos Laredos, Veracruz, Yucatan, and Cancun.
“The arrival of Couoh is part of the strategy of the Tigres de Quintana Roo to strengthen its sports department, focused on enhancing the performance of the first team and continuing with the development of young talents within the organization,” the organization said in a press release. “His knowledge of the national baseball environment and his ability to work as a team will be key pieces for the Cats going forward.”
The Tigres finished last in the Zona Sur in 2025 with a 35-58 record. It was the second season in a row where the Cancun-based organization finished last in the Zona Sur after a 25-64 mark in 2024. They last made the playoffs in 2023, a season that saw them finish 12 games under .500 and lose to the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the first round of the playoffs four games to two. Quintana Roo hasn’t finished with a winning record since 2019, when they finished fourth in the Zona Sur with a 62-57 mark and lost in the first round to the Diablos Rojos four games to two.
The team has been reported to be examining ballparks in other cities for a potential move.
