On Wednesday, March 4, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns defeated the LSU Tigers 7-2 at Russo Park in Lafayette, La.
The Cajuns had nine hits in the game as a team, and the reigning national champion Tigers had just one inning in which they scored runs.
The statement win over LSU moved Louisiana’s record to 10-3 overall this season.
Louisiana has won 10 of its last 11 games
After two losses to start the year against Missouri State, Louisiana proceeded to win 10 of the next 11 games.
The Cajuns have played power conference opponents over that stretch as well. Including their midweek win over LSU, Louisiana played multiple games against both Maryland and Kansas State. In five games against those two teams, Louisiana went 5-0.
Following matchups against Maryland and Kansas State, the Cajuns played the UC San Diego Tritons in a weekend series at Russo Park.
After losing the first game in the series 7-3, Louisiana followed it up with an 8-0 shutout win over the Tritons. They went on to win the final game of the series 4-3.
Cajuns in the Sun Belt standings, next game against Dallas Baptist
As of Thursday, March 5, the Cajuns are fourth in the Sun Belt Conference Standings behind Southern Miss, Texas State, and Arkansas State.
Their next game is on Friday, March 6, against the Dallas Baptist Patriots. This will be a road game for Louisiana at Horner Ballpark in Dallas. The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. EST.
