In just two games during the Baton Rouge super regional, the LSU Tigers knocked the West Virginia Mountaineers out of the NCAA Tournament. As a result, they are heading to the College World Series for the 20th time in program history.

The story of LSU’s highly successful weekend in the super regional round against West Virginia came from their offense. They scored 28 total runs between the two games as they had 16 in the first matchup, and 12 in the second one.

The 28 runs the Tigers had over the weekend came off 18 total hits between the two games.

Different Contributors Powered LSU’s Super Regional Offense, Steven Milam with a Big Weekend –  The offense was a mix of different players in each game stepping up. During Saturday night’s game, freshman star hitter Derek Curiel getting three hits which led to five RBI. Josh Pearson also had a good game on Saturday with two hits and four RBI.

Curiel and Pearson homered in this game, along with their teammate Steven Milam. Milam also found ways to get on base often, as he drew two walks.

In the College World Series clinching game on Sunday, the big hitting continued but from a different set of players.

First baseman Jared Jones had three hits in the game as he led the Tigers in hitting. Jake Brown had a productive outing with two hits and four RBI. One of his hits was a home run.

Milam was also once again a factor with two walks in this game, much like the matchup on Saturday. He had more hits in Sunday’s game against West Virginia as he had two doubles.

The LSU shortstop and New Mexico native was arguably the best offensive player of the weekend in the Baton Rouge super regional.

Up Next – LSU is heading back to Omaha for the College World Series as they look to win the program’s eighth national championship.

They will play the Arkansas Razorbacks to open the 2025 College World Series double-elimination round. The game will be either June 13 or 14, and a certain first pitch time is to be determined.
