It is the second time in three seasons that Johnson has been named coach of the year. He also won the award in the 2023 season, the first time he led LSU to a national championship.

Johnson led the Tigers to the 2025 national championship. This was the second national title for LSU in three seasons and the eighth in program history.

The success in the College World Series and NCAA Tournament has been extensive for Johnson. In the last ten years, he has led teams to Omaha four times.

The head coach has been to the NCAA Tournament for five straight seasons. In seven total NCAA Tournament appearances as a head coach, Johnson has a record of 43-16.

He has 507 total wins in his head coaching career, which has also included stints at Point Loma Nazarene, Nevada, and Arizona.

Following the completion of his fourth season in Baton Rouge, Johnson has now led LSU to 40+ win seasons every year as the head coach. The 2025 Coach of the Year has 190 wins in purple and gold.

What’s Next for Johnson and LSU Baseball? – With two national championships in three seasons, Johnson has clearly made LSU the program to beat in college baseball.
