NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Sunday, March 15, the LSU Tigers defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 16-9. For the Tigers, it is their first Southeastern Conference (SEC) win of the 2026 college baseball season.
LSU also salvaged the weekend series against Vanderbilt after losing the first two games at Hawkins Field.
The offense for the Tigers put on a show. LSU had 10 hits and 15 RBIs as a team. Seven different LSU hitters got in the hit column.
Jake Brown leads the way with six RBIs
Right fielder Jake Brown was the major catalyst for the LSU offense against Vanderbilt on Sunday.
He led the Tigers with six RBIs and had two hits as well. In the seventh inning, Brown had a huge three-run home run that extended LSU’s lead out to 10-6.

LSU head coach Jay Johnson talked about Brown and how good a player he is with World Baseball Network.
“He is such an athlete,” Johnson said. “His development as a player has skyrocketed, and he is one of the best players in the country.”
Brown is having a big year for the Tigers. He leads the team in batting average, and his three-run home run on Sunday against Vanderbilt was his 11th of the season.
Brown talked about how he has matured this season into one of the best players in college baseball.
“I am just way more comfortable up there,” said Brown. “This is my third year doing this, and I have played in a lot of games and had a lot of at-bats. It is all about me getting into the box and trusting the work my team and I have put in all offseason.”
Cade Arrambide and Chris Stanfield with multi-hit performances
Much like Brown, catcher Cade Arrambide and left fielder Chris Stanfield had multi-hit games for LSU on Sunday.
The two players combined for four hits and four RBIs.
Johnson credited Arrambide and Stanfield, as well as other players on the team, for their ability to execute on offense against Vanderbilt.
“I thought that if they executed today, we could have a great offensive day,” Johnson stated. “Everyone was getting on base from Cade [Arrambide] to John Pearson, because of that, we had a great offensive day.”
Arrambide talked about LSU’s ability to get on base, which was on display at Hawkins Field.
“I think we changed our mindset to really go out there and compete,” Arrambide said. “We wanted to not play for ourselves, but rather we wanted to sell out to help our team win.”
Up next for LSU
The LSU Tigers now have a 14-7 overall record this season after defeating Vanderbilt on Sunday.
Their next game will be Tuesday, March 17, against the Grambling State Tigers. The game is at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. and the first pitch is at 7:30 p.m. EST.
