The LSU Tigers will be without right-handed pitcher Cooper Moore for around 2-3 weeks, according to head coach Jay Johnson on the LSU Radio Network.
The junior from Bixby, Okla., was pulled off the mound in the fourth inning of Friday night’s game against the Oklahoma Sooners. According to Tiger Rag, Moore was experiencing soreness and tightness in the triceps of his pitching arm.
Johnson talked about the decision to take Moore out of the game against Oklahoma early.
“We didn’t plan on taking Cooper out right there,” the LSU head coach said. “Tonight’s unfortunate because I thought he was throwing the ball well. I had no plans of taking him out.”
Moore’s start against the Sooners ended with four strikeouts and four innings. He allowed two earned runs in a 4-2 loss for LSU.
Moore in 2026 with the Tigers
Moore has been the second starter in LSU’s weekend rotation this season. He has a 3.38 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.
The right-hander has three wins to his name this season against the Milwaukee Panthers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Northeastern Huskies.
Time with the Kansas Jayhawks
Before the 2026 season with LSU, Moore had a productive 2025 college baseball season with the Kansas Jayhawks.
He was second-team All-Big 12 and had a 3.98 ERA in 122 innings. Over that same stretch, Moore had 116 strikeouts with Kansas.
According to D1 Baseball, Moore was a top-ten transfer pitcher coming into the 2026 college baseball season.
