On Thursday, the Louisiana State University Tigers defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 2-0 to earn their 28th win of the season. LSU starting pitcher Kade Anderson pitched a complete game shutout, the best outing of his career.
Through the full nine innings, the southpaw from Madisonville, La., threw 14 strikeouts while allowing just two walks. He threw 135 total pitches with 91 strikes. He also allowed just one extra base hit all night.
The win brings Anderson’s record in 2025 to 6-0 in eight starts. His complete game shutout was the first one by an LSU pitcher since A.J. Labas did it in 2018.
The big night in Norman, Okla. could do wonders for Anderson’s draft stock. Heading into the season, he was ranked in the top 100 prospects for the 2025 MLB Draft as a draft-eligible sophomore.
This season, LSU’s Friday night starter has a 2.85 ERA on the season. He leads the Southeastern Conference in innings pitched (47 1/3) and strikeouts (75). His 75 strikeouts also lead the country as, for now, he has passed Tennessee’s Liam Doyle.
With his name on the midseason Golden Spikes Award watchlist, he will be a pitcher to pay attention to throughout the remainder of the 2025 college baseball season.
Up Next – On Friday, LSU will look to win the weekend series against Oklahoma at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
