LSU’s Nate Yeskie Receives Contract Extension Through 2028 Season

Yesterday, according to nola.com, LSU Tigers pitching coach Nate Yeskie received a contract extension through the end of the 2028 college baseball season.

Yeskie was on a $400,000-per year deal that was set to expire in June 2026. Now, under the new deal, the pitching coach is set to make around $1.46 million over the course of three years.

The 2026 college baseball season will be Yeskie’s third one in Baton Rouge.

During his time with LSU, the Tigers have had 14 pitchers selected in the MLB Draft. LSU also led the country in strikeouts under Yeskie in 2024 and 2025.

During this past season, Yeskie played a vital role in helping LSU win its program’s eighth national championship. The Tigers had a 53-15 record and were 19-11 in conference play.

Before being at LSU, Yeskie had coaching stints at UNLV, Oregon State, Arizona, and Texas A&M.

He helped lead Oregon State to the 2018 national championship. Yeskie spent 11 seasons in Corvallis with the Beavers’ baseball program.

Head Coach Jay Johnson’s Ties with Yeskie

Yeskie worked with his current head coach, Jay Johnson, before they were together at LSU.

In 2020 and 2021, the two worked together when Johnson was the head coach of the Arizona Wildcats.

Johnson and Yeskie both assisted in leading Arizona to the 2021 College World Series.

The LSU head coach has high praise for Yeskie.

Nate is regarded as one of the best and most respected pitching coaches in the country,” Johnson said. “He is an exceptional communicator and teacher; he connects with his players on the highest possible level, which has led to the development of some of the best pitchers and pitching staffs in college baseball.”

Much like Yeskie, Johnson also received a contract extension with the Tigers that is set to last through 2032.
