After sailing to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first, it was all downwind for the Navegantes de Magallanes in Game 4 of the LVBP championship series.
Leandro Cedeno went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored, five RBIs, and clubbed a three-run homer in the seventh as the Navengantes took a 3-1 series lead over the Caribes de Anzoategui with a 14-5 win in Game 4.
In the bottom of the first, Magallanes got RBI singles from Rougned Odor and Angel Reyes, a two-run double from Luis Sardinas, and a two-run single from Tucupita Marcano to take a 6-0 lead.
They tacked on two more in the fourth on an RBI double by Cedeno, and two more in the fifth on a single by Eliezer Alfonzo and a wild pitch that allowed Alfredo Tovar to scoot home.
Cedeno’s three-run shot in the seventh, his fourth of the playoffs, and Reyes’ solo homer in the eighth capped the scoring for the Navegantes, who are now a win away from a trip to the Serie de Las Americas. With a five RBI night on Saturday, Cedeno has driven in 14 runs in the five games of the finals, and hit four homers and a double, making him a shoo-in for the series MVP award should the Navegantes win the series.
Hernan Perez hit a two-run homer for the Caribes in the eighth.
The Navegantes can clinch their 14th LVBP title on Sunday in Game 5, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EST at Estadio Jose Bernardo Perez in Valencia, Venezuela.
