The Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional’s round robin playoffs, which were suspended following the capture of Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro by the U.S. military during a raid on Maduro’s Caracas compound early Saturday morning, will resume on Wednesday.
Late Sunday afternoon, the league released a statement announcing the move.
“The Board of Directors of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) informs the public that the Round Robin phase of the 2025-2026 season will resume next Wednesday, Jan. 7,” the statement, originally in Spanish, said. “The LVBP and the participating teams will also announce the revised game schedule in due course, with the aim of ensuring the smooth continuation of the competition. We thank the fans and the media for their understanding and continued support of Venezuelan professional baseball.”
