Major League Baseball announced on August 15 the 2025 Spring Breakout game schedule for spring training, which runs from March 13 to 16.

Spring training will start on February 20 when the Los Angeles Dodgers will play at home in the Camelback Ranch region of Glendale, Ariz., against the Chicago Cubs in the Cactus League.
The New York Yankees will open the Grapefruit League against the Tampa Bay Rays at home at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla., on February 21. All 30 teams will start the remainder of spring training on February 22-23.
According to MLB.com, “Forty-eight of the 54 players on the 2024 All-Star Futures Game rosters took part in Spring Breakout, and rosters for the upcoming Arizona Fall League are also expected to include many players who were featured during the Spring Breakout event”.
Last March was the first Spring Breakout event for MLB. It featured the top 100 prospects from MLBpipeline.com and showcased the baseball future stars such as notables Paul Skenes, Jackson Holliday, and Jackson Chourio, who made their big league debut during the 2024 season.
Ninety-five players appeared in the MLB this season that participated in the 2024 Spring Breakout event, including 35 players who have been featured on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospects list this year.
Twelve of the 16 Spring Breakout games in 2024 were played as part of a traditional doubleheader with a Major League Spring Training game the same day.
According to MLB.com, “The top-ranked Tampa Bay prospects will square off against the seventh-ranked Boston prospects in Port Charlotte, Fla. while the top prospects of the eighth-ranked Cubs and fifth-ranked Dodgers meet in Glendale, Ariz. on Thursday, March 13.
A third matchup of top-10 farm systems highlights the balance of the Spring Breakout schedule as the ninth-ranked Seattle Mariners visit the fourth-ranked Cleveland Guardians in Goodyear, Ariz., on Friday, March 14”.
MLB Unique Spring Training Events For 2025: The Atlanta Braves will travel to Mesa, Ariz., to play two games against the Cubs on Monday, March 24, and Tuesday, March 25, in a crossover matchup between the Grapefruit League and Cactus League organizations. The other crossover contest will be the Colorado Rockies playing the Minnesota Twins on March 25 in Fort Myers, Fla. In addition, a number of exhibition games on March 23-25 will be played at Major and Minor League ballparks. The scheduled meetings thus far include the three-game Freeway Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels at Dodger Stadium in Chavez Ravine on March 23 and Angel Stadium in Anaheim on March 24-25. The Kansas City Royals will travel to the Lone Star State to play the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field, the Cleveland Guardians will play on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, and the Houston Astros will host the Triple-A Sugar Land Skeeters at Minute Maid Park.
According to MLB.com, “Additional exhibition games at MLB and minor league ballparks are expected to be added in the coming months prior to the start of spring training.”
The 2025 MLB season will start at the Tokyo Dome in Japan for the two-game Tokyo Series between the Dodgers and the Cubs on Tuesday, March 18, and Wednesday, March 19.
All 30 MLB organizations will open up the 2025 regular season on March 27.
