 Nick Martin - World Baseball Network  |    Jul 25th, 2024 11:00am EDT

The Mets swept the season Subway Series for the first time since 2013. Here’s everything you missed from yesterday in the MLB

Reds 9 Braves 4

  • Elly De La Cruz had three hits, including a home run, to help Cincinnati win the second game of the shortened series against the Braves. Spencer Steer provided three RBI of his own for the Reds. The second game of the doubleheader was postponed.

Pirates 5 Cardinals 0

  • The Pirates shut out St. Louis in the final game of the series to pull within one game of second place in the AL Central. Four runs in the second began Pittsburgh’s offense early, leading them to a much-needed series win. The Pirates have won eight of ten.

Twins 5 Phillies 4

  • Max Kepler hit a walk-off single with one out in the ninth to pick up the series win for Minnesota over the NL-leading Phillies. The Twins scored three runs in the seventh to tie the ballgame before Kepler sent the Phillies home. Philadelphia has lost three straight series.

Brewers 3 Cubs 2

  • The Brewers picked up the series win over Chicago after a double from Wilson Contreras in the ninth broke a 2-2 tie. The AL Central-leading Brewers have won four of five since returning from the All-Star break. Milwaukee placed Christian Yelich on the ten-day injured list before the game.

Rockies 20 Red Sox 7

  • Colorado tied its franchise record for runs with 20 thanks to four home runs. Brenton Doyle hit his first career grand slam, and the Rockies combined for 21 hits to win the series against Boston. The Red So, who have lost five of their last six, committed a season-high four errors in the game.

Astros 8 A’s 1

  • The Astros avoided the sweep with a strong performance from Hunter Brown, who struck out eight in six innings. Houston ended their three-game slide in what may have been their final game in the Oakland Coliseum.

Angels 2 Mariners 1

  • The Angels swept Seattle and pushed their win streak to four straight. Brandon Drury drove in the go-ahead run on a single in the eighth, and the Angels were able to hold onto the lead. The Mariners lost for the eighth time in nine games.

Guardians 2 Tigers 1

  • The Tigers scored early, but Cleveland completed the comeback with a single from Josh Naylor in the eighth inning that scored his brother Bo Naylor to take the lead. The Guardians have won two straight after dropping the first game of the series. They remain one of the toughest teams to beat at home, with a 33-14 record this season, the second-best in baseball.

Marlins 6 Orioles 3

  • Jazz Chisholm hit a two-RBI double in the seventh inning to give Miami the lead and come away with the win. The Marlins clinched a series win over Baltimore and extended the Orioles losing streak to three games.

Padres 12 Nationals 3

  • The Padres collected a season-high 20 hits, including home runs from Jurickson Profar and Kyle Higashioka, to beat Washington and win their fourth straight. San Diego remains hot in the NL race for a wildcard spot.

Mets 12 Yankees 3

  • The Mets hit three home runs off Gerrit Cole to complete the season sweep of the Subway Series. Francisco Lindor hit a long ball off Cole and a three-run homer off the Yankees bullpen in the eighth. The Mets swept the season series against the Yankees for the first time since 2013 and have won three straight games.

Blue Jays 6 Rays 3

  • Justin Turner singled in the eight to break a 2-2 tie before the Blue Jays scored four in the inning to pull away from Tampa Bay. Vlad Guerrero hit a homer for the fifth time in the last six games.

Rangers 10 White Sox 2

  • Nathan Eovaldi dished out ten strikeouts to lead the Rangers to their fourth straight win. Corey Seager had four hits, including a home run, for the defending champs, who have won 11 of 15. Texas won the series’ first two games against the White Sox and grew their losing streak to ten.

Diamondbacks 8 Royals 6

  • The Diamondbacks scored five in the ninth inning to pull ahead of Kansas City. Gabriel Moreno got the rally going with a two-run double followed by a three-run homer from Ketel Marte. Arizona won the final two games of the series after dropping the first in Kansas City.

Giants 8 Dodgers 3

  • San Francisco ended the Dodgers five-game win streak with a solid performance from Robby Ray in his Giants debut since returning from Tommy John surgery in May of 2023. The Giants held Los Angeles without a hit until the seventh when Chris Taylor doubled.
