The Marlins have not yet made a corresponding move on June 19.
Pina will make his Major League Baseball debut whenever he takes the mound at some point and is not part of a front office corresponding move.
Pina, 26, was born in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, and is in his first year with the Marlins organization since he signed a minor league contract on November 20, 2024, and was assigned to Triple-A Jacksonville on the same day.
This season, Pina has posted a 4-3 record with Triple-A Jacksonville and a 3.47 ERA in 13 appearances and 11 starts, throwing 57 innings, allowing 53 hits, 22 earned runs, four home runs, 15 walks, 54 strikeouts, and a 1.193 WHIP.
According to Steve Adams of MLBTradeRumors.com, Pina had a 22.2% strikeout rate, a 6.2% walk rate, and a 46.9% ground-ball rate with Triple-A Jacksonville, and this year his sinker averages 92.8 mph and is up a mile per hour over last year’s levels.
Pina was invited to big league camp as a non-roster invitee on February 10, prior to the beginning of the 2025 Grapefruit League season.
Pina only pitched in one game out of the bullpen this past spring training on March 1 on the road against the Washington Nationals and went 0-1 with a 81.00 ERA, throwing 0.2 innings, allowing five hits, six earned runs, one home run, two walks, and one strikeout.
In the 2024-25 winter league season, Pina played for the Estrellas Orientales in LIDOM and went 2-1 with a 1.65 ERA in seven appearances and six starts, throwing 27.1 innings, allowing 23 hits, five earned runs, three walks, 27 strikeouts, and a 0.951 WHIP.
A look at Robinson Piña's nasty splitter.
He's been awesome as a starter in the Dominican Winter League this year (1.61 ERA and 3.11 FIP in 22.1 IP). https://t.co/hfnJ6XMWC5 pic.twitter.com/4LASqx0yuC

With Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Pina went 1-4 in six starts and posted a 4.97 ERA, throwing 29 innings, allowing 29 hits, 16 earned runs, four home runs, 14 walks, 25 strikeouts, and a 1.483 WHIP, before he was transferred to the Development List on September 19, 2024.
Pina was with the Los Angeles Angels organization since he signed on February 15, 2017, at the age of 17 during the international signing period and made it up to Triple-A Salt Lake in the 2023 season.
Pina in his eight seasons in the minors has a 40-46 lifetime record with a 4.03 ERA in 174 appearances and 116 starts, one complete game, one shutout, recording four saves, throwing 667.2 innings, allowing 580 hits, 299 earned runs, 57 home runs, 288 walks, 792 strikeouts, and a 1.300 WHIP.
First-year Marlins manager Clayton McCullough, with his team in last place at 29-43 and 15 games back of the first place New York Mets at 45-29, will have to evaluate how he will use Pina either in the starting rotation or in the bullpen during this part of the 2025 regular season, alongside having three starters on the injured list with Max Meyer on the 15-day injured list, Ryan Weathers on the 60-day injured list, and Braxton Garrett on the 60-day injured list, outside of the relievers with Jesus Tinoco on the 15-day injured list and Andrew Nardi on the 60-day injured list.
