The Jacksonville State Gamecocks are now 20-4 in Conference USA play after a series win over the Missouri State Bears.
After losing the first game of the series, the Gamecocks outscored the Bears 21-6 in the next two games.
Jacksonville State is now sitting alone atop the Conference USA standings. They are two games ahead of the Liberty Flames, who are in second place.
The Gamecocks also have an overall record of 38-10 this season. This season is the winningest season Jacksonville State has had in the 21st century.
Jacksonville State’s year-to-year improvement in C-USA Play
The Gamecocks have lost one series in Conference USA play this season. They started conference play with four straight series sweeps over Sam Houston, Western Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, and Middle Tennessee.
After a series loss against Liberty, Jacksonville State went on to their next three series over Florida International, New Mexico State, and Missouri State.
The Gamecocks have steadily improved their conference win totals in Conference USA. In 2024, Jacksonville State finished 5-19 in conference play. In 2025, they improved, winning 15 conference games.
Now, Jacksonville State has a conference regular season title in its sights.
Up next for Jacksonville State
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks have no midweek game the week of May 3. Instead, they will wait until this upcoming weekend to play the Kennesaw State Owls.
The first game of that weekend series is Friday, May 8, at Jim Case Stadium in Jacksonville, Ala. The first pitch is at 7 p.m. ET.
