Mid-Major Watch: Talented High Point Hitter Brayden Simpson Enters the Transfer Portal

On Tuesday, High Point junior infielder Brayden Simpson announced that he would be entering the transfer portal.

The Moseley, Va. native had a phenomenal 2025 season with a .389 batting average, a .477 on-base percentage, 22 home runs, and 78 RBI. Simpson had 91 total hits this season, which ranked him tied for the 10th most out of any player in the country.

Simpson’s home run ability is something to take note of as he explores other college baseball teams to play for. He was the Big South Conference leader in home runs. This helped to make High Point one of the best hitting teams in the country.

The Panthers ranked third in the country in team batting average and were second in the country in home runs. High Point had 131 long balls and only the Georgia Bulldogs had more.

On March 29, Simpson had possibly his best game of the season against Radford. He had three home runs and 8 RBI, which were both season-highs for him.

That game was also one of 28 total multi-hit games the talented hitter had for High Point in 2025. His season-high in hits in a game was four, which he had five separate times against Wofford, Winthrop, Stonehill, Radford, and Longwood.

Simpson’s fabulous season landed him some award recognition as well. He was named to the All-Big South first team.

The infielder helped High Point to a great season where they finished 39-19 overall and 18-6 in Big South play.
