Mid-Major Watch: Two Big-Time Sun Belt Hitters Enter the Transfer Portal

As college baseball’s postseason picks up, more players are entering the transfer portal for next year. Two good hitters from the Sun Belt conference entered the portal this week.

Michael Maginnis, OF, Georgia State Panthers

Michael Maginnis entered the portal on Tuesday. With Georgia State this season, he had a .302 batting average, 16 doubles, and 10 home runs.

He is also a big base-stealing threat with 18 stolen bases this season.

He was one of the best hitters in the Panthers’ lineup. According to 64 Analytics, he is the 8th-best player currently in the transfer portal.

Brennan Holt, INF, South Alabama Jaguars

Another one of the highly ranked hitters officially in the transfer portal is Brennan Holt. He had the true definition of a sophomore breakout season at South Alabama.

In 2025, he had a .303 batting average with an on-base percentage of .442. His slugging percentage jumped to .588, the best in the Jaguars’ offense this season. He also improved his RBI total to 31 this season.

He was a major contributor to the South Alabama offense that ranked in the top five in the Sun Belt.
