Detroit Tigers legend Miguel Cabrera made a career of collecting hits and hitting home runs. MLB fans can expect another Cabrera to be hitting long shots in MLB games soon.
Miguel’s son Christopher is just 12 years old but is already calling his home runs. During a recent game with the Pottstown Scout Team, a Perfect Game Association team, Christopher was mic’d up and called his shot. Before the game, Chris told a cameraman, “Boutta take him deep.” He even specified that he would do it on the first pitch of the first at-bat. Young Christopher delivered, hitting one out of the park with his soon-to-be hall-of-fame father watching.
Chris rounded the bases after his homer and pointed to the camera, saying, “I called that.” His dad was mic’d during the game, too, and as Christopher rounded third, the two shared a moment. Although Christopher is just 12, his swing already looks ready for the next level. He has one of the best swing teachers a hitter could ever want in his dad. Miguel finished his career with over 3,000 hits and 500 home runs.
The young Cabrera will be a name to watch as he continues to grow and improve his game. Likely to be a highly touted prospect out of high school and possibly college, it shouldn’t be long before MLB fans are hearing Christopher’s name called at MLB stadiums.
