Salerno currently plays baseball for Sun Valley High School, which is in between the North Carolina towns of Monroe and Indian Trail.
During the 2025 Prep Baseball All-American Game at LoanDepot Park in Miami, Fla., Salerno won the Most Valuable Pitcher award.
Perfect Game also described Salerno as a pitcher with a “full starter mix” and “has high-end stuff.”
Mississippi State’s 2027 Recruiting Class and More
Salerno is joining Mississippi State’s 2027 recruiting class, which ranks 12th in the country.
The class contains four prospects who have committed to play baseball in Starkville. Three of those four prospects rank as top 100 prospects in the 2027 class.
Those three prospects are Salerno, Sullivan Reed, and Carson Kinnick.
During the 2025 recruiting cycle, the Mississippi State Bulldogs brought in the 11th-ranked class.
In the 2026 recruiting cycle, the Bulldogs have 11 players committed to play for Mississippi State. That recruiting class ranks 20th in the country and contains two top 100 prospects.
Head coach Brian O’Connor is starting to piece elite recruiting together in Starkville as he ventures into his first season coaching Mississippi State in 2026.
