On Monday, the Mississippi State Bulldogs landed a commitment from high school catcher prospect Will Brick.
Brick was reclassified from the 2027 high school class to the 2026 high school class this month. He currently plays baseball for Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tenn.
According to Baseball America, Brick is the number one ranked catcher nationally in the 2026 class.
Over the summer, Brick represented the United States and played in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 World Cup in Tokyo.
In 15 at-bats, he had a .333 batting average with three doubles, four runs, and four RBI.
He also had an on-base percentage of .474 and an OPS of 1.141.
During the event, the United States team went 8-1 overall. They defeated Japan in the gold medal game 2-0 to win the entire U-18 World Cup.
In an interview with Steve Robertson on 24/7 Sports, Brick detailed what went into his decision to reclassify and commit to Mississippi State.
The catcher’s love for the Bulldogs’ ballpark, Dudy Noble Field, was talked about.
“I got chills right when I walked out there,” Brick stated. “All you can think about is that place packed out on a Friday night against another highly ranked SEC opponent. I can only imagine going out there and just having a connection with all of the fans. That is what I imagine when I think of college baseball. It’s about that connection with the community and playing in front of big crowds. It’s incredible to think about playing for something bigger than yourself.”
The Mississippi State Bulldogs have an upcoming exhibition game to play on November 1.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will travel to Starkville to play Mississippi State on that Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT.
