Missouri’s Kam Durnin wins Appalachian League Player of the Year Award

On Monday, it was announced that Kam Durnin won the Appalachian League Player of the Year award.  

Durnin helped lead the Kingsport Axmen to a league-best 31-15 record. In 145 at-bats during the summer league season, he had a .407 batting average and a 1.181 OPS. He also had 56 RBI, which is an Appalachian League collegiate record. 

His .407 batting average is tied for the best batting average in the history of the Appalachian League. 

Durnin was the best hitter in the Appalachian League during the 2025 season. He played shortstop, third base, and was also a designated hitter for Kingsport during the season. 

The Axmen lost in the Appalachian League Championship 11-3 as the Bluefield Ridge Runners defeated them to win the title. 

Durnin’s College Career with Wichita State, Missouri Transfer Decision 

The infielder has spent the past two college baseball seasons with the Wichita State Shockers. 

In his two-year stint with the team, he had a .258 batting average, 100 hits, 30 doubles, 60 RBI, and nine home runs. 

In 2025, the Wichita State Shockers went 20-36 and were 11-16 in American Athletic Conference play.   

On June 25, Durnin announced that he was transferring to Missouri via the transfer portal. He announced this move on his X account.  

He will enter the SEC as a junior for the 2026 college baseball season.
