Leones del Escogido and Águilas Cibaeñas are set to square off tonight in a LIDOM game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Currently, Escogido leads the league, while Águilas sits in fourth place.
This is a unique game, as the two managers of each team are former Major League Baseball stars. Albert Pujols is managing Escogido and Yadier Molina is managing Águilas. For the first time, the two former players will compete against each other as managers.
The two former players played against each other 13 times during their MLB careers, one of which was in the postseason. They were teammates and played in 1,006 games with the St. Louis Cardinals, winning two World Series championships with the Cardinals in 2006 and 2011.
Molina has an illustrious MLB career. He is a ten-time all-star and a nine-time gold glover. He is one of six catchers ever to start in 2,000-plus games.
Pujols has just as big of a career. He is a three-time MVP, an eleven-time all-star, and a six-time silver slugger. Pujols is also fourth all-time in MLB history in home runs with 703.
Now, the two future Hall of Famers will manage against each other in a big LIDOM game tonight.
