Teams are finding their groove after the All-Star break, and fans were treated to exciting finishes. Here’s everything you missed from yesterday in the MLB.
Yankees 9 Rays 1
The Yankees finished a series split with the Rays thanks to five home runs, including two from All-Star Juan Soto. Soto has four multi-home run games this season and 21 in his career. New York pitching allowed three hits to shut down the Rays lineup.
Tigers 8 Guardians 2
The Tigers improved to an MLB-best 12-5 in July after All-Star Tarik Skubal allowed one run in seven innings. Detroit pushed the Guardians’ losing streak to three games and improved to one game under .500.
Pirates 2 Cardinals 1
Pittsburgh won their seventh game in their last eight against the division foe and wildcard contender. Nick Gonzales drove in the go-ahead run on a single in the eighth to lead the Pirates to victory. The Pirates climbed to a game back of second place in the division and a half-game of the final wildcard spot in the NL.
Mets 6 Marlins 4
Francisco Lindor hit two deep and led the charge for New York to split the four-game series in Miami. The Mets moved to 5-5 this season against the team with the worst record in the NL. Jeff McNeil provided three RBIs of his own for the Mets.
Reds 4 Braves 1
The Reds ended their four-game losing streak, topping the Braves in game one of the series and handing Atlanta their third consecutive loss. All-Star Hunter Greene pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits. Elly De La Cruz reached base and scored twice for Cincinnati.
Rangers 4 White Sox 3
Rangers rookie Wyatt Langford walked off the White Sox with a single in the tenth after he was the tying run in the ninth. Texas took game one of the series and extended the White Sox losing streak to eight games.
Cubs 3 Brewers 1
Ian Happ homered in the sixth to help Chicago end the NL Central leading Brewers three-game win streak. The Cubs used six pitchers and shut down the Brewers offense allowing the only run in the eighth.
Royals 10 Diamondbacks 4
Bobby Witt was a single short of the cycle as the Royals pushed their winning streak to four games. Kansas City matched their win total from last season just four games after the All-Star Break and find themselves in possession of the third wildcard spot in the AL.
A’s 4 Astros 0
Hogan Harris and three Oakland relievers shut down the Astros offense to win their second game against Houston this year. The Astros entered the game tied for first place in the AL West with Seattle.
Twins 7 Phillies 2
Minnesota snapped a three-game losing streak to take game one against the Phillies thanks to seven strong innings from Bailey Ober. Bryce Harper hit home run No. 23 in his first career game at Target Field.
Rockies 9 Red Sox 8
The Rockies have won four of their last five and continued Boston’s four-game losing streak since the second half began. Ezequiel Tovar singled with two outs in the 12th to walk it off for Colorado after Jake Cave tied the game on a single of his own.
Angels 3 Mariners 1
The Angels squeezed out a win after Joe Adell drove in the winning runs on a single with two outs in the top of the ninth. Bryce Miller pitched seven scoreless innings for Seattle but the Mariners bullpen could not shut the door.
Dodgers 3 Giants 2
Los Angeles has won four straight games after All-Star Teoscar Hernandez had three hits and drove in three, including the go-ahead run with a single in the eighth. The Dodgers honored Willie Mays before the game. It was the first time the Giants had visited Dodger Stadium since Mays died on June 18.
