Montreal-Native and Houston’s Antoine Jean Wins Big 12 Pitcher of the Year

On Tuesday, the Big 12 conference named Houston’s Antoine Jean as the Pitcher of the Year. The grad-year reliever had an incredible season in 2025.

The native of Montreal, Canada, had a 2.43 ERA in 63 innings of work. During that stretch, he struck out an astonishing 104 batters while only walking 200.

He also allowed an opposing batting average of .162.

Jean had an impressive stretch of games in April. In back-to-back appearances against Oklahoma State and Kansas State combined, he pitched 11 and 2/3 innings, allowing only three earned runs and striking out 16 batters.

His season-high strikeouts came against the Central Florida Knights on March 21.

Along with being Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, he was named first team All-Big 12 along with fellow relievers Gabe Craig from Baylor and Cole Carlon from Arizona State.

This season was a career revival for Jean, who suffered an injury that kept him out for the 2023 season.

In 2024, he was a starter in Houston’s rotation. As it turns out, the move into the bullpen made him not only one of the best relievers in the Big 12, but also the country.
