Mumbai Cobras Name Roster for Inaugural Baseball United Season

Last week, the Mumbai Cobras became the third team to unveil their roster for the inaugural Baseball United season.

The Cobras’ roster is a diverse mix of players from across the globe, including the United States, Curaçao, U.S. Virgin Islands, India, Sweden, the Philippines, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, and Costa Rica.

Baseball United aims to provide a global stage for players to test themselves against former minor leaguers and former MLB player and grow the game around the world.

One of the more intriguing international prospects is Filipino shortstop Lord Aragorn De Vera. A standout at De La Salle University in Manila and a longtime member of the Philippine national team, De Vera is currently representing the Philippines in the Asian Baseball Championship. He’s off to a blazing start, posting a 1.797 OPS with a home run in the opening round. He and fellow Filipino outfielder Ian Mercado will get the biggest opportunity of their careers in Dubai, hoping to earn professional contracts in the U.S. or one of Asia’s top leagues.

Baseball United is also a platform for former minor leaguers aiming for a return to affiliated ball. One such player is infielder Gedionne Marlin, who spent three seasons in the Texas Rangers’ system, hitting .233/.328/.338 over 134 games before being released after the 2023 season. In 2025, he played in Italy’s Serie A with San Marino, slashing .375/.411/.548 with three home runs and helping the club capture a championship. He also impressed at the U23 European Championship with the Netherlands, hitting .619/.667/.905 with one home run—ranking third in the tournament. A strong showing in Dubai could put Marlin back on the radar for Major League Baseball teams or top Asian leagues.

Another player looking to make an impact is right-handed pitcher Dylan Spain. A former minor leaguer in the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies organizations, Spain spent the 2025 season as a starter for the Lake Erie Crushers in the Frontier League. Transitioning from the bullpen, he delivered a standout year, posting a 2.38 ERA with 94 strikeouts over 105 innings. With a fastball in the mid-to-upper 90s, Spain could use this opportunity to earn a deal overseas.

The inaugural Baseball United season kicks off on November 14 and will conclude with the championship game on December 14. All games will take place at Baseball United Ballpark in Dubai. The league will feature four teams: the Mumbai Cobras, Mid East Falcons, Arabia Wolves, and Karachi Monarchs.
