N.C. State Pitching and Hitting Looks Dominate After Crushing Richmond

On Tuesday, February 24, the N.C. State Wolfpack defeated the Richmond Spiders 27-0 at Dail Park in Raleigh.

The win moved the Wolfpack’s record to 6-1 on the season. It was a perfect bounce back after a 1-0 loss this past weekend against the Princeton Tigers.

Dalton Bargo leads N.C. State in hitting, 22 hits as a team

N.C. State had 22 hits as a team against Richmond. Tennessee transfer Dalton Bargo led the way for the Pack with four hits. This included a first-inning home run and five RBIs.

Including Bargo, seven N.C. State players had multiple hits in the game. Ty Head and Chris McHugh were two of those players with multiple hits. They both hit a home run and had six RBIs combined.

Although Mikey Ryan did not have a multi-hit day, he joined in on the long ball hitting with a home run in the second inning.

Rett Johnson was also one of the players with multiple hits and had a standout day for the Wolfpack. He tallied two doubles and scored three runs.

Wolfpack Pitching throws a shutout and allows just one hit

After starting pitcher Danny Heintz recorded a strikeout in a scoreless and hitless first inning, the relievers put in work for N.C. State.

Heath Andrews entered the game for Heintz in the second inning. He proceeded to deliver six innings of great pitching with eight strikeouts. Andrews also gave up just one hit over that stretch.

Sam Harris closed out the final two innings of the game for N.C. State. He had four strikeouts and allowed no hits.

Heintz, Andrews, and Harris pitched a combined shutout and gave up one hit all game. Those three pitchers stymied the Richmond offense.

Up next for N.C. State

N.C. State has one more midweek game before the third weekend of the 2026 college baseball season arrives.

On Wednesday, February 25, they will play the Akron Zips at Dail Park. The game starts at 3 p.m. EST.
