Ninth Place NC Dinos Fire Manager Kang In-Kwon

After a disappointing 60-74-2 season that has them in ninth place in the KBO standings, the NC Dinos decided to fire manager Kang In-kwon. The move comes a day after the Dinos were officially eliminated from the postseason, a shocking result given their 25-17-1 start to the season.

“With an eye toward building a sustainable contender, we have supported this group because we value continuity with our system and leadership,” the Dinos said in a statement. “However, as we have been eliminated from the postseason race, we felt it was now time to shift our focus to preparing for the 2025 season, and we decided to terminate our contract with Kang In-kwon.”

Hired as interim manager in May of 2022, the former bench coach led the Dinos to within two games of the postseason and was rewarded with a full-time position and a three-year contract.  The Dinos made the postseason in 2023 but took a significant step back this year as the club struggled with injuries and suffered a franchise-record 10-game losing streak.

C Team manager Gong Pil-seong will take over as Dino’s manager for the rest of the season.
