NCAA: Arkansas and Florida State Have the Most 2025 MLB Draft Picks

The 2025 MLB Draft in Atlanta is all wrapped up. The Arkansas Razorbacks and Florida State Seminoles were the two college teams with the most MLB draft picks. Both schools finished with 11 players each being selected.  

Arkansas Razorbacks in the 2025 MLB Draft – Arkansas had three players selected in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft. Pitchers Gage Wood and Zach Root were selected by the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers respectively.  

Meanwhile, 2025 Golden Spikes winner Wehiwa Aloy was picked by the Baltimore Orioles with a compensation pick.  

Right after the Dodgers selected Root with the 40th overall pick, they selected Charles Davalan with the 41st overall pick in the competitive balance round.  

Pitchers Christian Foutch and Aiden Jimenez were both selected in the fifth round by the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals respectively.  

In the sixth round, left-handed pitcher Landon Beidelschies was selected by the Atlanta Braves.  

In the seventh round, Australia-native Brent Iredale was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates.  

Right-handed pitcher Ben Bybee was picked by the San Francisco Giants in the eighth round.  

The final two Razorbacks selected in the 2025 MLB Draft were Justin Thomas and Parker Coil. Thomas was picked by the Houston Astros in the eighth round, and Coil was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round.  

Florida State Seminoles in the 2025 MLB Draft – The Florida State Seminoles also had 11 players get selected during the 2025 MLB Draft.  

The first Florida State player to get picked was left-handed ace Jamie Arnold. The Athletics selected him with the 11th overall pick.  

Then, two Florida State players were selected in the second round. Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Alex Lodise was selected by the Atlanta Braves. Shortly thereafter, right-handed pitcher Cam Leiter was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers.  

Outfielder Max Williams was taken in the third round by the Miami Marlins. The Marlins then selected two more Florida State players in the fourth and sixth rounds. In the fourth round, they selected Drew Faurot. In the sixth round, they picked up starting pitcher Joey Volini.  

Right-handed pitcher Peyton Prescott was selected in between Faurot and Volini by the New York Mets in the fifth round.  

In the 15th round, Evan Chrest was picked by the Cleveland Guardians.  

The final three Florida State players drafted were all selected in the 16th round.  

First, the Los Angeles Angels selected Gage Harrelson. Then, the Toronto Blue Jays picked catcher Jaxon West. 

The final Seminole baseball player selected in the 2025 MLB Draft was Maison Martinez. The Cincinnati Reds picked him with the 474th overall pick. 

What Other College Baseball Teams had a lot of Picks? – After Arkansas and Florida State, the team with the second-most draft selections was the Georgia Bulldogs. 

Georgia had 10 players get selected. The highest draft pick they had was JT Quinn. The Baltimore Orioles selected him in competitive balance round B.  

Five college baseball teams had nine players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft. These teams were the Tennessee Volunteers, LSU Tigers, Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, and Ole Miss Rebels.  

The Texas A&M Aggies and Oklahoma Sooners had eight players selected in this year’s draft.
