NCAA Transfer Portal: Arkansas, Georgia, Coastal Carolina, Miami Make Key Additions

Arkansas, Georgia, and Coastal Carolina all made some big additions in the NCAA transfer portal as the 2025 calendar flipped to July.

Missouri State’s Zack Stewart Commits to Arkansas – Missouri State hitter Zack Stewart announced that he is heading to Fayetteville and transferring to Arkansas via his X account.

Stewart has built up some accolades during his three seasons playing with the Bears. In 2023, he won the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Freshman of the Year award. He is also a two-time second-team All-MVC player in his career with Missouri State.

In 2025, Stewart had a .269 batting average with 11 home runs and 31 RBI. He drew 27 walks as well, which was the most he has had in a single season.

Head coach Dave Van Horn is getting a hitter with lots of college baseball experience who can be a leader on Arkansas’ team next season.

Tennessee’s Andrew Behnke Commits to Georgia – Tennessee left-handed pitcher Andrew Behnke announced on his Instagram account that he would be transferring to Georgia.

Despite a tough 2025 season where the southpaw had to deal with injuries, Behnke was exceptional in 2024 with the Volunteers.

During Tennessee’s national championship season, the left-hander had a 3.54 ERA in 23 appearances out of the bullpen. In 28 innings of work, Behnke had 39 strikeouts and allowed a .213 opposing batting average.

Head coach Wes Johnson is getting another talented pitcher in his ranks. Being a former pitching coach, Behnke is the kind of player Johnson can mold back into a strong left-hander.

Texas’ Cole Chamberlain Commits to Coastal Carolina – Texas catcher Cole Chamberlain announced on his X account that he was committing to Coastal Carolina via the transfer portal.

During his freshman season in Austin, Chamberlain received 37 at-bats. He was able to get two doubles and three RBI during those appearances.

Chamberlain showed flashes of being a good defender with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 49 chances.

This will be key for the former Texas Longhorn in his new home in Coastal Carolina.

Head coach Kevin Schnall and the Chanticleers are losing Buster Posey Award winner Caden Bodine to the MLB draft and will need a replacement for 2026. Chamberlain can fill that role.

Holy Cross Right-Hander Danny Macchiarola Commits to Miami –  Holy Cross starting pitcher Danny Macchiarola announced that he has committed to Miami via the transfer portal.

In 2025, Macchiarola had his best season. The right-hander finished with a 3.27 ERA and had 92 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings of work. He was named second team All-Patriot League for the second straight season.

The pitching from Macchiarola translated into big things for Holy Cross. The Crusaders won the Patriot League regular season and tournament title in 2025. This allowed them to make the NCAA Tournament field for the first time since 2017.

With two full seasons of starting pitching under his belt at an all-conference level. Head coach J.D. Arteaga and Miami are getting a pitcher that can be plugged right into their starting rotation in 2026.
