While the College World Series is ongoing in Omaha, four SEC teams have made big additions in the transfer portal.

Arkansas Lands Commitment from Vanderbilt Left-Handed Pitcher Ethan McElvain

In two seasons at Vanderbilt, Ethan McElvain appeared on the mound both as a starter and a reliever.

In nine career starts out of his 27 total career appearances, the left-hander from Thompson’s Station, Tenn., has a 5.33 ERA.

Out of the bullpen, McElvain earned his first career save in 2025 against the Tennessee Volunteers on May 11.

In his two seasons in Nashville, the southpaw has been a strikeout hunter. In 52 1/3 career innings of work, McElvain has 74 strikeouts. In 2025, he was able to get 45 of those strikeouts in 27 1/3 total innings of work.

Arkansas is getting a great strikeout thrower with SEC experience in McElvain. With experience both as a starter and reliever, it makes the Razorbacks’ job easier in finding a spot for him within the pitching staff.

Missouri Lands Commitment from Texas A&M Utility Player Jamal George

After just one season playing for the Texas A&M Aggies, Jamal George announced that he is transferring to the Missouri Tigers for the 2026 season.

George saw limited at-bats for the Aggies in 2025. In 65 at-bats this season, he had 15 hits that led to four RBI.

The utility man from Puerto Rico built up a strong resume at the first school he played for, Alabama State.

He won the SWAC Freshman of the Year award in 2023.

In 2024, he had a .310 batting average and a .410 on-base percentage for Alabama State before transferring to Texas A&M the next season.

After finishing dead last in the SEC, Missouri lands a utility player full of potential in George, as they look to continue rebuilding their program.

Tennessee Lands Commitment from Bowling Green Catcher Garrett Wright

The Tennessee Volunteers landed a commitment from talented catcher Garrett Wright from Bowling Green.

Wright gained a lot of accolades playing with Bowling Green for two seasons. He has been named first-team All-MAC twice and was also named to the All-MAC Defensive team twice.

In 2025, he had a .406 batting average, a .513 on-base percentage, and 48 RBI. Wright ranked in the top 25 among the best hitters in college baseball based on batting average.

He was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year this past season. He posted a .991 fielding percentage with just three errors all season long.

He was also the MAC Freshman of the Year during the 2024 season.

Head coach Tony Vitello and Tennessee landed one of the best mid-major catchers in the country.

Kentucky Lands Commitment from Grand Canyon Right-Handed Pitcher Connor Mattison

The Kentucky Wildcats landed a commitment in the transfer portal from right-handed pitcher Connor Mattison

The Goodyear, Ariz. native spent his 2025 season with the Grand Canyon Antelopes as both a starter and reliever. Out of his 11 appearances this past season, he made five starts.

In 2025, Mattison pitched 33 1/3 innings and struck out 41 opposing batters.  He also allowed just 10 walks out of the 151 total batters he faced.

He also recorded a save this season against Texas State on February 28.

In 2024, Mattison was the Grand Canyon’s ace. That season, he led the team in starts, strikeouts, and wins.

He was second in the WAC that season in strikeouts among all pitchers.

Kentucky is getting a pitching prospect with a ton of potential in Mattison.
