This week, the LSU Tigers made two major additions in the transfer portal. Grand Canyon first baseman Zach Yorke and Oregon State third baseman Trent Caraway both announced that they were committing to LSU.

A Look at Oregon State’s Trent Caraway – Much like LSU last season, Oregon State also made the College World Series, with Caraway playing a big role. He was named the most outstanding player of the Corvallis regional during the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

In 2025, the third baseman had 67 hits that included 15 doubles and 12 home runs.

He was one of the bigger power-hitting threats for Oregon State. The Beavers had 107 home runs this past season, which had them ranked 13th in the country.

Caraway had six home runs in the 2025 postseason, which is the most in a single postseason by an Oregon State player.

A Look at Grand Canyon’s Zach Yorke – Yorke is coming off possibly his best season with the Grand Canyon Antelopes. His power hitting took a step forward with 13 home runs in 2025.

In his three-year career in Phoenix, he has a .328 batting average, a .434 on-base percentage, and 157 RBI.

He has also been a good defensive player during his collegiate career. In his three seasons with Grand Canyon, Yorke had a .993 fielding percentage with just eight errors.

2025 National Champions – This past season, the LSU Tigers won their eighth national championship as they defeated the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

They finished the season 53-15 overall and were 19-11 in SEC play.

Both Yorke and Caraway are two power hitters that head coach Jay Johnson can find ways to utilize for their national title defense in 2026.
