According to MLB, Netflix has acquired the rights to a short film revolving around the man who organized a standing ovation for then-struggling star Trea Turner. Directed by Kyle Thrast and Ben Proudfoot, “The Turnaround” will premiere on Oct. 18 — the same day as two scheduled Championship series games.

The Netflix Original will cover the story of Philadelphia Phillies’ superfan Jon McCann’s organization of the standing ovation from the Philadelphia faithful — an applause that welcomed Turner on August 4th after a slow start in the first year of his 11-year, $300 million contract with the Phillies.

“I thought it was pretty [freaking] cool,” Turner said to Matt Zolecki of MLB.com at the time. “The fans have my back. They’re showing up for me. It’s pretty cool to see. I wish we could have come out with the win right there, but I thought that was awesome.”

Entering the early August contest, Turner was hitting .235 with 10 home runs, 34 RBI, and 21 stolen bases in 107 games. However, following the ovation, he finished with a batting average of .266, 26 home runs, and a standout postseason in which he contributed to the Phillies’ NLCS run.

“We all have a choice of how we want to approach the world around us and all its challenges. Do you boo? Or do you give all the love you can give? Jon’s answer inspired us to make this film,” Thrash and Proudfoot said to Nick Vadala of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
