After spending a couple seasons with the Canisius Griffins, Max Grant shifted his college baseball career to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to play among the best of the best in the SEC in 2024.
Despite seeing only 36 at-bats with the Crimson Tide last season, the Canadian infielder delivered some decent numbers, posting a .250 batting average and hitting three home runs, showing the power he can possess. He also showed this kind of power at Canisius with a 10-home run season in 2022.
One of the more impressive games Grant put together was in conference play against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on May 5th. He went two for five with 3 RBI and a home run. It was his second long ball of the weekend in Starkville as he also homered the night before. In fact, in that same game the night before, he put up his season high in defensive put-outs with seven.
It is just one series of games, but it was a glimmer that showed how Grant has been able to adjust to SEC baseball.
With Alabama cashing in on a borderline top-ten transfer portal class and a high school recruiting class of new talent, the Crimson Tide are poised to make waves again in 2025. Grant can fill in the gaps on an infield stocked with many great players returning to Tuscaloosa, including Justin Lebron and Mason Swinney.
He can really contribute with more at-bats coming in 2025 on an Alabama team looking to make a third-straight NCAA tournament.
