Yan, 28, has had a long baseball journey and hasn’t pitched an MLB inning in his career. He first signed with the Los Angeles Angels as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2013, and is 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds with a fastball that hits the mid-90s. His secondary pitches are a changeup and a slider.

Yan shows emotion on the mound, and when he strikes people out, he’s not afraid to celebrate and let people know. His nickname is “The Judgement,” or “La Sentencia” in Spanish. Sometimes he jumps up in the air, and other times he kicks out his left leg and drops closer to the ground.

He made his professional debut in the Angels organization with their Dominican Summer League team in 2014. Yan made one appearance with the Angels’ Arizona Complex League in 2017 before being released.

Yan was out of affiliated baseball for three seasons and was discovered in a men’s baseball league by the Miami Marlins. He signed a minor league deal with them on April 29, 2021. In 2023, he reached the Marlins Triple-A affiliate, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. He also spent two winters playing in LIDOM with the Estrellas Orientales, making his debut with them during the 2023-2024 season and throwing 39 innings with 51 strikeouts, and an ERA of 2.54.

In 2024, Yan took signed with the Saitama Seibu Lions in Nippon Professional Baseball. He pitched 30 ⅔  innings with 35 strikeouts and an ERA of 5.58 in the NPB.

This season, he returned to affiliated baseball and was with the Rockies’ Triple-A affiliate, the Albuquerque Isotopes, before being released on July 20, 2025 after posting a 7.28 ERA over 29 2/3 innings across 27 appearances.

He’s thrown 234 ⅓  innings with 339 strikeouts, an ERA of 4.72, and 19 saves in 179 minor league appearances.
