Arizona Cardinals star quarterback Kyler Murray was seen wearing a South Korean baseball national team jersey as he walked in the tunnel before Sunday’s season opener against the Buffalo Bills. The Korean national team is currently competing in the WBSC U-23 World Cup.

Murray is a third-generation Korean American on his mother’s side. The Cardinals starting quarterback showed his Korean pride with his custom white jersey. The Jersey featured his signature number one on the back, and his last name was translated into Korean.
Murray has a long and fruitful history with baseball. He was a two-way athlete at the University of Oklahoma, starting on both the football and baseball teams after transferring from Texas A&M in 2016. After sitting out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules, Murray excelled on both the diamond and gridiron in his last college season in 2018.
He won the 2018 Heisman trophy and obtained a .954 OPS with ten home runs in over 200 plate appearances while playing the outfield. He was drafted in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft, ninth overall, by the Oakland Athletics.
Many questions arose about whether the two-sport athlete should choose baseball, but ultimately, Murray chose the big money when the Cardinals selected him first overall in the 2019 NFL draft. Murray has enjoyed a successful NFL career in Arizona and signed a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension in 2022. However, he still shows his love for the game by attending games and sporting jerseys like this one.
The South Korean U-23 team is currently 3-1 in the WBSC, second in Group B. Their first loss came today, Sep. 9, by a score of 8-4 against Venezuela. Their next game will be Tuesday, Sep. 10, against undefeated Group B leader Nicaragua. Hopefully, Kyler will cheer on the South Korean squad throughout their journey to victory in the 2024 U-23 WBSC World Cup.
