KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On Sunday, November 9, the Tennessee Volunteers played game three of their Fall World Series at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Here are three observations that World Baseball Network made about the Volunteers during Sunday’s action in Knoxville.
Freshman left-handed pitcher Cameron Appenzeller started on the mound during Tennessee’s third Fall World Series game on Sunday.
In 3 2/3 innings of work, he had strikeouts and allowed just four base runners. Appenzeller retired the first eight batters he faced.
Coming out of high school, the left-handed pitcher was ranked as a top 25 player in the 2025 class. He was a top five prospect from the state of Illinois.
Kennesaw State transfer Bo Rhudy tallied four strikeouts in two innings of work during Tennessee’s Fall World Series on Sunday.
Over that same stretch, he gave up no runs and just one hit.
Rhudy spent two solid seasons with the Kennesaw State Owls in 2024 and 2025. He has a career ERA of 2.97 in 72 2/3 innings of work. He also has 76 strikeouts in his career and has allowed an opposing batting average of .202.
Rhudy has the makings of being a high-impact transfer pitcher for the Volunteers in 2026.
The two Tennessee hitters who stood out during Sunday’s action were freshman Hutson Chance and catcher Stone Lawless.
Chance had two hits and scored two runs. He hit a home run as well at the beginning of the third game of the Fall World Series.
The freshman is a Brentwood, Tenn.-native. Perfect Game ranked him as a top 500 player nationally and a top 25 player from the state of Tennessee.
Lawless had two hits as well. Those hits led to two RBI for the Volunteers’ catcher.
In 2025, he had a .288 batting average and a .468 on-base percentage in 59 at-bats. He had five home runs and 20 RBI as well.
